The real and actual Iron Man of India, Sadar Vallabhbhai Patel, is now standing high with pride as the world’s tallest statue. The spectacular creation is so vivid in itself that patriotism, concept of make in India, and moreover, the concept of “Ek Bharat , Shrestha Bharat” or united India are all encompassed within it.
The Statue of unity saw its inaugural by the honorable Prime Minister of India on 31st October 2018, till then let us dive into few of the facts:
The statue is located on the Sandhu beyt. And, is situated against the basalt rocks of Vindhya and Satpura hills of the Shoolpaneshwar Wildlife sanctuary.
The overall height of the statue is 183 mts. About 70,000 MT tonnes cement has been used.
6000 MT tonnes of structural steel,1700 MT tonnes of bronze and 24,500 MT tonnes of steel usage has been recorded. It used about 700 tonnes of iron from the donated farm equipment from across the country and about 3 lakh soil samples collected.
The Statue of unity is known to be twice the height of the very famous statue of liberty in New York.
The approach to viewing this huge and breathtaking creation has been made people friendly too.
A total of 8 travellators have been constructed along with a cafeteria, gift shop parking for about 800 vehicles and a capacity of about 15000 people.
Driving into the history, from how and when the idea cropped in, let’s go quickly through the points.
While serving as the chief minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi passed a resolution to construct the statue of unity in August 2010.
In March 2011, SVPRET, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Rashtriya Ekta trust was formed to execute the project.
With minor other formalities, 2013 was the year when the CM of Gujarat, Narendra Modi, performed the stone laying ceremony and launched countrywide drives to create an awareness campaign.
With progressions every year, construction began by the end of 2015 and got completed by end of 2018.
Narendra Modi then as the CM, remarked “ It is a tribute to the great man who united India. The state government and my party BJP have decided to build the world’s tallest statue dedicated to Sardar Patel ji.
